Dragonfly Print Development
The Becoming Her print began as a hand-drawn dragonfly sketch, chosen for its life cycle — from an unseen existence underwater to emergence and flight as a visual metaphor for a woman's journey through transition into confident self-expression. The dragonfly is the visual language of the collection; "Becoming Her" is its thesis.
From Sketch to Textile Repeat
The hand-drawn motif was refined into a digital illustration and developed into a seamless repeat, with controlled scale, spacing and boundary alignment to ensure a consistent rhythm across the textile surface. Production artwork was finalised in two orientations (36×58" & 58×36) at 300 dpi, then supplied to the textile printer for sublimation printing by the metre.
Colour as an Emotional System
The same motif was rendered in soft and stronger Pantone-referenced colourways, expressing different emotional registers softness and transition versus confidence and self-assurance rather than assigning one colour to one "stage" of womanhood. The constant motif represents transformation; the shifting colour relationships let that transformation read differently across the collection.

From Textile to Garment
The repeat was printed onto fabric by the metre before construction, so the print functions as part of the textile itself rather than a decoration applied afterward carrying the design from hand-drawn concept through digital repeat, colourway development and production artwork to finished garment.
The print is therefore the visual and emotional framework of Becoming Her: one motif, systematically developed through repeat, scale and colour to trace a woman's journey of becoming.
Development Range
Prior to finalising Champagne Bloom and Midnight Becoming, the dragonfly motif was tested across a wider Pantone-referenced colour range including warmer rust and citrus-toned combinations — to establish which relationships best carried the collection's emotional arc. This iterative colour testing confirmed the final two colourways as the strongest expression of the transition-to-confidence narrative at the heart of Becoming Her.
